The World Barista Championship
UNIVERSAL RULES. Espresso Italiano Championship is Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano (INEI) barista championship. The rules consist in adjusting the equipment and preparing four perfect espressos and four cappuccinos in just 11 minutes, under the scrutiny of the technical jury and of a sensory jury that judges according to the International Coffee Tasters Institute (IIAC) standards.
THE BEST BARISTAS SELECTED BY PARANÀ. Every year, Caffè Paranà, at the Inei training point in the Lazio region, hosts the try outs for the Espresso Italiano Championship. Only one contender is chosen in this mini-championship to represent Caffè Paranà and the Lazio region in the Italian finals.
And then only the best baristas of the world will compete against each other at the international finals, to crown the best barista of the world. A long, hard yet very much sought-after championship, that every year gathers hundreds of participants, also thanks to its international standing.
